Webinar: Efficiently managing product data for eco-design of food products

Efficiently managing product data for agri-food eco-design

Webinar Thursday, September 22, from 11:30 to 12:15 hosted by Jean Bressoud, Keendoo's Deputy CEO and Guillaume Ardillon, Num-Alim's Director of Operations and Technologies

Faced with the environmental emergency and the new regulatory constraints designed to reduce the footprint of food products, adapting quickly and accurately has become vital for all food companies.

Eco-design, yes! But how?

According to the definition of the AFNOR NF X 30-264 standard, eco-design is an innovative approach that is characterised by the integration of environmental criteria from the design phase or during the redesign of a product, good or service. The objective is to reduce its environmental impact throughout its life cycle.

This approach is based on the analysis of the life cycle of products, commonly called LCA, which is also the subject of a specific standard. The environmental impact of a product or range of products is assessed according to 16 criteria to define the LCA score.

Structuring, consolidating and making data reliable to speed up LCA

Product Life Cycle Assessment, which is multi-criteria and multi-stage, relies on a large amount of data, often scattered throughout the company in several departments. Collecting and consolidating this data is often long and tedious: on average 5 days for a single product for a specialist firm.

But if the data is already structured and reliable, it is immediately available to calculate the LCA score of the products.

Save time and accelerate eco-design with a tool dedicated to the food industry

The Keendoo eco-design software, developed in partnership with O2M Conseil, structures and consolidates the data required for product life cycle analysis (LCA) and eco-design of food products:

  • origin and labels of raw materials,
  • composition and recyclability of packaging,
  • revenue,
  • method and duration of storage

It enables the environmental impact of products to be assessed through LCA, the levers for improvement to be tested through simulation calculations, and progress to be measured in the continuous improvement process of eco-design.
