Reliability of product information: web collaboration as a remedy?

Let's take a look at some evocative figures that are representative of a new trend that is affecting both supermarkets and food manufacturers, namely that of a consumer who is increasingly demanding and even worried about what he or she consumes, which may have a harmful impact on his or her health and the environment. In 2016, 79% of French people consider the risk of food damaging their health to be "probable", compared to only 59% in 2014*...

Another interesting figure that we have learnt from the experience of our retail customers is that on average they have to deal with 2 withdrawal plans per week. In addition to this, there are the the changes in the INCO regulation regulation, which notably requires the presence of allergens to be highlighted in the list of ingredients as mandatory nutritional information.

All of the above elements and figures confirm the need to control all information concerning food products, whether to comply with regulations or to reassure consumer customers and regain their trust. Accurately tracing all the raw materials that make up a single product, from different suppliers, can be complex. In 2012, following the horsemeat scandal, it took the Irish authorities more than three months to trace the meat supplier.

So how can you have control of your product information? How can ensure the reliability of product information from your suppliers and their suppliers?

One of the avenues for improvement lies in real-time collaboration on product data between all the players in the value chain. The aim is to enable the person who holds the information to update it directly and to share it simply and quickly with the people concerned, thus eliminating errors due to re-entries and duplication of data.

The KEENDOO solution allows you to improve exchanges with your suppliers by implementing customisable validation processes between the two parties. This collaboration takes place within a collaborative portal and results in the creation of customised workflows and the automatic sending of notifications, in the users' language, to the project stakeholders. The portal also allows simultaneous collaboration on centralised documents by adding annotations and shared comments. Dashboards allow users to monitor the progress of ongoing projects and to see where approval workflows are blocked. This collaboration can take place around a new recipe, a customer project, a raw material, etc.

The advantages of the KEENDOO collaborative solution:

  • Accessible 24/7 from any web browser,
  • The data is entered directly by the owner of the information to ensure the quality and reliability of the information entered,
  • The information is updated and shared in real time and automatically with an overview of both parties to save time and reactivity by limiting exchanges and the multiplication of documents.
